Private driver recommendation from Munich Airport

Two of us will be arriving at Munich Airport and would like to go directly to Dachua to tour for a few hours and then be transported to our hotel in Munich. Does anyone know some reputable services that we can contact? Thank you.

I've heard daytrip.com is pretty good. They will do a day trip tomorrow from MUC, for instance, with a 90 minute stop at Dachau for 203 (99+104 for layover) Euros, it appears. Prices might vary for different dates. Link is safe. https://daytrip.com/

To do Dachau right after a HUGE flight is going to be so hard. It's a long day, lots of walking, lots to take in and very emotional. I'd rest and do it the next day. We use a great guide for Dachau - bighattours.com - he is fantastic - he also does great walking history tours of Munich and Third Reich tours.

It looks like Big Hat Tours only offers a group tour for 210€, which is more than 4 times what most other tours of Dachau charge per person (i.e., Big Hat charges more for four people than you would pay for 4 people individually with another tour). Now, admittedly, the tour would be for just your group, but ....

Most tours also include your transportation to and from Dachau. Big Hat does not include your MVV ticket, but of course, when you buy a tageskarte yourself, you get the use of it the rest of the day.

Big Hat's price info is so out of date it's pathetic. MVV hasn't used the term "XXL Tageskarte" for years (as I remember, an XXL ticket used to be for the entire MVV area). A similar ticket today would cost almost 40€. If you are just going out to the Memorial and back, and will spend the rest of the day in the central, M, zone of Munich, where most everything you want to see is, you will only need a 2 zone, M-1, Tageskarte. An M-1 Partner Tageskarte will cost 19,20€ for up to 5 people, but you have to know specifically what you are buying.

I had the same concern as ChinaLake67 about touring Dachau on your arrival day. Regardless of the tour guide issue ( tours are offered by docents on site), arriving tired and jet lagged after a TA flight, and then embarking on an emotionally exhausting walking tour would not be something I would recommend.

Lee -

all I can say is we've used BigHatTours many times over the past 4 yrs and he teaches us so much - he has an iPad full of photos and info. We used the Rick Steves recommended tour - Radius Tours three times - (once for Dachau, once for Regensberg, once for a Third Reich Tour and did not learn or see near as much as we did with Dachau & Third Reich with BigHatTours.

I was simply answering the question based on our experience.

Not piling on, but I'll add my voice to the "don't go straight to Dachau" group.

You've heard the "it's emotionally exhausting" reason, but I'll add the idea that it deserves your full (well rested) attention

A rearrangement might be worthwhile, What ever you had planned the first full day in Munich day, swap it out for your arrival day. I would do Dachau the next day.. Be creative! I'm sure it will work out!
Enjoy Germany!

Do not rush Dachau, you will understand after experiencing it.
You don't just "see" Dachau, you Experience it
