Potsdam/Dresden lodging suggestions?

Seems like no one stays in Potsdam. I'm seeing a lot of Berlin suggestions but thinking of spending a couple of our available nights in Potsdam rather than making day trips. Any good suggestions?

Afterward I'm thinking probably three more nights in Dresden. Any lodging suggestions?

Thanks,

Try the Hilton Dresden. Great location and the price is very favorable. The area has all the great brewery restaurants too serving good German food.

I stayed 2 nights in Potsdam and really liked it. Thought it was a very attractive city and a place I would enjoy living in.
Look in the Dutch Quarter. Lots of charming hotels, restaurants, cafes and great architecture.

I stayed in Zum Hofmaler but there are plenty of other nice hotels, depends on your budget.

I don't remember the name of the hotel in Dresden, but there are tons to choose from. Am a Motel One fan, so next time would probably stay there. Depends on your budget, do you want quaint too or simply a nice place to sleep and have breakfast.

Dresden: I cannot recommend the Hilton. It needs a renovation. In similar central location: Steigenberger de Saxe or the Suitess are very good. The Gewandhaus hotel is a favourite of my friends, but there is a construction site in front now and that's annoying.

Across the river from the old town in a less touristy area is the Bülow Residenz, very charming.

All these are five star hotels but with surprisingly reasonable rates. For less money you should consider Hotel Martha, a charming 3star hotel near the Bülow Residenz or Aparthotel am Zwinger (five to ten minutes walk to the old town.)

In Dresden, I've stayed at the Hilton for work many times (An der Frauenkirche 5). The location is great and I didn't notice the hotel needing a renovation. It's the recommended hotel for several of the large companies that I visit in the area.

When traveling for personal reason to Dresden I usual stay at Motel One. Both locations are decent.

I stayed at the Motel One Dresden Palaisplatz - it's the usual Motel One quality, close to a tram stop, in a relatively quiet location and within walking distance of the big sights if you're energetic.
