Hi. We would like to tour the Porsche factory after our Rick Steves tour ends in Vienna. Has anyone done this? Should we fly from Vienna to Stutgartt? Any hotel suggestions? Thanks, Sue C.

Austrian Air and Air Berlin both have non-stop flights, cheaper if booked ahead. Train takes 6.5 hours with a connection in Munich, also cheaper if booked well ahead through German Rail.

While the Porsche headquarters and company museum are in Stuttgart, the factory that offers tours is the one in Leipzig - see here.
Austrian Airlines flies directly from Vienna to Leipzig/Halle Airport. The train trip would take about eight hours with one or two changes, so I'd recommend the flight.
Leipzig is an interesting city in its own right - if you have spare time I'd recommend the Stasi Museum in particular.
