Porsche and Mercedes Museums

Can both museums be visited in the same day? How much time is needed at each museum?

Hello!

We spent the afternoon at the Porsche Museum. I think it was like 2-3 hourse. We spent the next morning at the Mercedes Museum. We spent 4 hourse there. We really could have spent more time there. The Mercedes Museum is bigger so it will take more time. So yes, they can be done in the same day. You might be on car overload by the time you are done:) You will need some travel time between them.

While both were great, I liked Mercedes better as I think they did a fantastic job of entertwining the history of the car with what was going on in the world. Don't get me wrong Porsche was well done as well.

Enjoy!!!

You can certainly visit both in the same day - we did. As the previous poster mentioned, the Mercedes Museum is much larger so you will likely want to allocate more time to it than the Porsche Museum. While the museum its self was fantastic, my husband particularly enjoyed wandering through the several stories of cars in the dealership section of the Mercedes Museum. You can sit in most of them. The salespeople seem to be used to visitors wandering around, although we were very conscious to respect the fact that this was as much as place of business as an attraction for visitors. If I hadn't been tagging along he could have easily spent half a day in just that section of the 'museum' but then he enjoys the newer cars the most. I think a lot of the timing will depend on what kind of car person you are.

As a heads up, both times we visited the Mercedes Museum there was a wait to get into the actual museum. If you happen to show up on a school holiday, when a conference is there, etc you may find you have to wait to get in. Fortunately, you can amuse yourself in the other areas of the building. If it was me, I'd plan to start with the Mercedes Museum in the morning.

Thanks so much for the info! I am concerned about car overload - at least for me but maybe not my husband! Did either of you take both tours at MB? It looks like they have one for the "Legend Rooms" and one for the "Collection Rooms" plus exhibits. I plan to make reservations, especially since we are going in August.

We just did the self paced tours. At Mercedes we got the headphones. We just wandered at Porsche.
