Please help - easiest way to get from Halle (Westfalen) to Florence Italy?

Hello,

This will be my first time in Germany as I travel for work. We will be in Halle (Westfalen), and once the work trip ends I am going to stay with a friend in a town close to Florence.

I’ve been researching options but am not sure the most efficient route and which airport to fly out of? I also don’t want to spend over $500 on a flight.

I would love input for a first time solo female traveler. The less complicated the better!!

Thank you!!

There are several Halle in Germany. Normally I'd assume Halle an der Saale, but since you mentioned Münster I don't think that is the case. In any case, Münster has a tiny airport. But there are direct flights to Florence a few timed per week from Düsseldorf.

Hello,

Sorry I did not know there was more than one Halle in Germany. I edited my post to clarify it is a hotel in Halle Westfalen. Does that help??

It does. Outside Bielefeld? In that case look up flights from Düsseldorf, Köln or Frankfurt. Remember that you can also look for flights to Pisa, Bologna or even Milan.

You can also do it by train in a long day, but can be a nice trip if you combine it with a stop or two somewhere.

Thank you! Yes it is outside of Bielefeld.

I was originally looking up flights from Frankfurt but I wanted to find an airport closer to the hotel in Halle Westfalen where we were staying since I want to get to Florence as early in the day as possible to maximize my time with my friend.

In that case your options are Köln and Düsseldorf. But while Frankfurt is a bit further away, there are a lot more frequent flight there.

If you're looking at flight to Florence, I would suggest the airport in Düsseldorf. I think Paderborn has one too, (not sure) if that helps. Just in case, it's spelled Florenz in German.

One option: You can take a bus to Bielefeld then a train from Bielefeld to Düsseldorf. This takes takes about 2.5 hours. There is a direct flight from Düsseldorf to Florence that takes 1h 45 on some days of the week, I don’t know when you are traveling. The direct flight is on Vueling Airlines and can cost <$100 one way. Be sure to check baggage requirements for allowances. Plan to arrive at the airport no later then 3pm for a 5pm flight. Düsseldorf is a very user friendly airport.
