Plan for a short trip

Hello, I’m traveling to Europe in April & will start in Frankfurt Germany and wanna go somewhere else from there. By the way this will be my forth trip to Germany so I don’t need more than a day in Frankfurt & can move to my next destination the next day.
I know I have a lot of options but everything I wanted doesn’t work out on my travel dates..
1.it’s too late for snow, winter activities & northern lights in Norway & Finland since I’m traveling between April 23rd & 30th..
2. There’s a public holiday in Amsterdam & everything will be closed so there’s nowhere to go (plus, I’m not a fan of loud crowded places so no, with all respect I I don’t wannt stay for the festival/celebration)
3. I’ve been to Italy last year & wanna see a new country this time.
4. I absolutely HATE tanning so there’s no point in going to Greece at that time (I’ve always wanted to go but if I do I’ll go in December or January some other time so I can avoid spending time in the hot sun)
5. Paris doesn’t seem ideal for me since I’m a heartless solo traveler who has zero romantic feelings lol (so why go to a romantic city?) and Spain is a bit too far from Germany. Plus too warm at that time, I prefer cooler weather.
6. London is one of my favorite places in the world but I plan to go later next year.
So.. Looks like I’m out of interesting options :(
Help me.. Do you have any ideas ?? Somwhere I can go for 3-4 days

Since you wrote off most of the world, I don't what is left. You do have a unusual view of Europe. Second, you will not see a lot of sun in Greece in April so you could put Greece back on the table but the islands will still be pretty sleepy at that time. Paris is an interesting city and more so with a lover but you don't need one to enjoy the city so put it back on your list. Do you enjoy wine ?? -- guessing not. But you could put the south of France on your list.

Jump on Turkish Air and go to Istanbul. 3-4 days is a short time there but you definitely won't be bored. Paris, London, and Amsterdam are not the only interesting options in Europe. There are also tons of second-tier (for lack of better words) cities that are plenty interesting and accessible to Frankfurt. Poland and Czech Republic are right next door to Germany, you can check them out.

Maybe instead of all the negative things about everywhere you might tell us what you do like and don't hate - all in capitals, lovely shout - so we have a clue what you might like.

(by the way if you don't want a tan some places sell a skin cream which prevents tanning)

I had a very verrrrry bad experience with Turkish Airlines last year, I’ve never actually seen anything in istanbul besides the airport, But I don’t wanna go there.

By the way I have a week in total so I thought split it between Germany & another country.

Spend the time in Switzerland unless you don't like chocolate or cuckoo clocks.

You can't have seen all of Germany, even if you have been here 4 times. I am still working on it an I have lived here over 30 years. With only a week, why spend it traveling to and from another country? There are dozens of intereszing cities and towns near Frankfurt, plus the city itself has enough to keep you busy for more than a day or two.

France certainly has more to offer than Paris.

Without knowing your interests, no one can make good suggestions for you.

Good, you have 3-4 to days to spare, you certainly are not out of options, ie, never out of options provided you're not super limited budget wise and if you have the imagination.

That's what counts besides the time available. Given 3-4 days extra I would know exactly what to do.

Three to four days free, then spend it in North and eastern Germany. Lots of options here, eg, river cruise on the Elbe, the Kiel Canal what they call "Nord-Ost-Kanal"

Cities and towns like Hamburg, Lübeck, Flensburg, Lüneburg, Kiel, Husum, Schleswig (the famous Schloss there), Eutin/Holstein, Plön, Schwerin, Cuxhaven, Bremen, Stade, Stralsund, etc. all well worthy of visiting and exploring if you're into Prussian-German history and the cultural aspects of this area.

No problems traveling solo in Germany, that's exactly what I do too.

How about Berlin? Spend the entire extra time in Berlin, see the choices from Spandau to Köpenick or Karlshorst.

Just little naming correction: The German name is Nord-Ostsee-Kanal or short NOK; English Kiel Canal for what reason ever.

For the extra 3-4 days after landing in Frankfurt, I would leave the area within a 2-3 hrs of arrival, head east, ie Berlin or north, ie Hamburg...logistically feasible and easily done. In 2014 I landed at FRA in the morning on a non-stop flight from SFO, one hour late too, had lunch, dilly-dallied at the train station, then took the train Frankfurt Hbf to Berlin Hbf, arrived by 7 pm or so.

If you prefer staying within the Frankfurt radius, the places I suggest are Bad Ems, Marburg, Bad Nauheim, Koblenz, Rüdesheim. even Tübingen.

@ Fred
Thank you for the suggestion but I just came back back from a trip to Germany a couple of months ago, and I was there last spring as well.
This is why I wanna go somewhere new :)
I plan to fly directly from home to Frankfurt and go to my next destination the next day
Nevermind I’ll figure something on my own & thanx again.

I'm not super romantic and I still like Paris.

I don't think that you said anything negative about Luxembourg. One of my favs.

How about Strasbourg?

Hi,

You're welcome.

"...wanna go somewhere else." Exactly. That somewhere else is why I am suggesting North and eastern Germany where it's quite different, (you'll sense that and, even more so, if you know the language), you won't run into loads of Americans or other international tourists, etc

The one big advantage flying into Frankfurt is that it is the hub for connecting flights. If you prefer leaving North and eastern Germany for a longer trip, fair enough, even better, then I would suggest connecting to Poland or Vienna.

Imagination is key as you make your final decision. As pointed out above, I would have no indecision as to where those 3-4 extra would be spent.

It seems my reply has disappeared, and others as well. Is there an issue with the website?
