We will be travelling by train from Berlin to Hamburg in Nov. for 4 days my husband and I will each have a suitcase but not large...any suggestions of places to stay within walking distance of the train station but close to be able to walk and explore some of Hamburg..we do like to have breakfast included...
Thanks for any suggestions
I see in several posts you've asked for accommodations within walking distance of train stations. Is there any reason you wouldn't take a taxi to a possibly nicer location? For some cities, the train station area isn't the best, and a short ride (maybe €8-15) will get you to be better area. Taxis in Germany are reliable and use the meter; there are some legitimate charges (such as putting bags in the trunk), which are posted in the cab. So, all you have to do on arrival at the station is follow signs to the taxi rank, and show your hotel's address to the driver.
Remember, for most itineraries, you will be going to the train station exactly twice - once on arrival and once on departure. I would never base a four day stay on that.
Hi,
I stay across from the main train station. There are two hotels a minute or two apart from each other that are well worth it. I don't recommend taking a taxi just to stay somewhere else. This time I stayed at Hotel Fürst Bismarck, a three star, on Kirchenallee, take the Kirchenallee exit from Hamburg Hbf.
The pricier one is Hotel Europäischer Hof, a 4 star, located on Kirchenallee 45. It has a restaurant, etc. Both these hotels are opposite of the train station, ca 2mins...very convenient getting to the Hbf in the morning without having to rely on a taxi or public transportation. If you are concerned about safety , ie basically a non-issue... the German police station is at the train station, ie on Kirchenallee. Breakfast included.
Hi,
Are you going from Berlin to Hamburg for four days? First, I suggest reserving the seats on that direct ICE train you intend to take, doing that in Berlin is fine, 4,5 Euro per seat reservation. I did exactly that after leaving Berlin this time, booked three nights at the Hotel Fürst Bismarck....good but I should have stayed in Kiel instead, would have saved more time.
