Places to stay in Cologne, Stuttgart and Munich

Hello,

After staying 3 days in Amsterdan me and my husband( both 50 years old) are planning to get a train to Cologne and from there start our trip to Bavaria ending in Munich.
We would like to have recomendation of a place to stay in Cologne, and Stuttgart ( just for 2 nights) and Munich 6 nights where we would travel to and from other towns.

Thank you very much for helping usl

We have take the train from Amsterdam to Cologne several times. There is an Ibis hotel as you go towards the door of the Cologne terminal. The door from the station side is locked but you can buzz to get in. Otherwise just go out the terminal door, look left at the Koln Dom, be overwhelmed, turn right and there is the front door of the hotel. That's the end of my advice.

Last year, we were in Munich for 6 nights. We chose to stay in an apartment; D'Alex Havana. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/205393 The location was great. The U-Bahn and trams were less than a block away which allowed us to travel anywhere in the city. We didn't cook but a market is just a couple blocks away. There was a good Italian restaurant at the exit from the U-Bahn. Bicycles were provided by the owner. No washer or dryer in the unit but you might be able to work something out with the owner. The price was very good.

We liked the City Hotel in Stuttgart.

It is in a quiet residential area with easy walking access to the town center through the underground passage at the Charlottenplatz Ubahn station. It has a good breakfast and a nice staff. The speak English if that matters. We made our reservations twice through HRS.com.

The hotel was recommended to us by an American who was living in Stuttgart at the time and it turned out to be a winner.
