I'm going to have time to see only one Museum on Museum Island and I can't decide between the two in the title. I know that some areas are closed in both museums or at least the Pergamon but which is more like the British Museum in terms of archeology and artifacts?

I recommend the Neues Museum to see the statue of Nefertiti.

The Pergamon Museum is amazing and only takes about an hour and a half to visit.

I would vote for the Pergamon. The Neues Museum has a lot of Neferti exhibits but the Pergamon is just incredible, and in answer to your question, more like the British museum. It has so many fantastic archaeological treasures inside.

I agree with the choice of the Pergamon over the Neues. The Gates of Ishtar alone puts that museum over the top for me. Per posts in the past (pre-Covid), we made sure to get to the museum early since lines can form quickly and there was limited access once the museum was considered full. I am not sure of the current policy, but I am sure that the posters on the Forum will have the details you will need. With one day to visit one museum its best to have the info you need to not be disappointed. Enjoy your time in Berlin!

Thank you all-looks like I will probably visit the museum. It's a good thing I looked online as I saw that it was closed on Mondays.
So much to see-so little time.
