How much time would allot to visit the Pergamon and see the Panorama?
Thank you.
Depends obviously on your personal interest.
In average people spend 3-4 hrs in the museum plus panorama with 1-2 hrs. Really a lot to see.
Please note when planning your time in the Pergamon that this museum is quite popular and the line to get in builds up quickly. My wife and I went this past August and arrived early, purchased tickets and waited in line for the doors to open and once opened we were let right in. What we didn't realize until we left a couple hours later (we stuck to the main displays having seen similar ancient artifacts in NYC museums) is that the museum seems to limit the number of persons they let in at any one time. The line when we left was a hundred or more persons long and we didn't opt to pay to see the Panorama.
We had read what posters on the forum advised about purchasing a timed entry before we left the US but we didn't want to tie ourselves to having to visit at a specific time - we were a couple blocks away and were in Berlin for a week and if there was a long line we just would have gone another day or visited the museum's website for a timed entry. If this museum is a "must see" (the Ishtar Gate and processional is spectacular) and time is an issue it might be safer to book an entry.
I had the same experience with long lines for the Museumsinsel museums as far back as 2015. I recommend buying a ticket in advance.
True. For security reasons (fire, rescue, ...) the number of people allowed in a building in Germany is limited.
There is also the chance to reserve time slot entries for museum pass owners.
