Pergamon Museum Closed?

Hey I was researching the Pergamon museum in Berlin and I saw that it was closed til 2024? But then I saw that I could still pay for tickets?

The Museum itself is open, but the actual Pergamon Altar is closed for restoration until 2024. There is still plenty to see there, like the Ishtar Gate and the Miletus Gate. I was there in 2015 and it was closed then, and they're still going at it.

Oh it’s just the altar? Ok! Thank you :)

I wanted to go to see the Ishtar Gate anyways haha. The Pergamon Altar is cool and it’s a real shame that it’s closed off, but waaay better than what I had initially thought :)

Hello!

We are in Berlin right now. Learning lessons...double and triple check all information (covid times). RS book (13th edition, printed February 2021) says Pergamon and Neues open daily (and I don't see any guide updates on this site that say otherwise), but we showed up Monday to a closed museum. Website says all museums (of the many listed under "state museums of Berlin" site) closed Mondays, but open every other day of the week.

I'm sorry about that disappointment in Berlin. It's always best to verify museum-entry times, but it's really critical right now. I gathered some information recently for a possible trip to northern Italy (not happening) and found that a lot of places are currently closed an extra day or two per week and/or have shorter hours than before. That's not what I would have expected for those large Berlin museums, but if the number of visitors is down significantly, I suppose it makes sense from their point of view. They must all have massive revenue shortfalls.
