Passau to Prague - transportation needed

Our cruise ship is docking in Passau and we want to visit Prague before flying home. We only have 2.5 days in Prague so I am anxious to get there quickly. Can anyone suggest a reasonably direct public transportation route or some other way to get there in a group car or private driver that they've had experience with? It is just me and my mother-in-law traveling.

What time are you docking? It is about a 4 hour drive, so that is the benchmark for how fast is possible. There is a train to Regensburg at 7:17 in the morning connecting to a IC bu that will get you there by 12:40. That's 5 hours and 23 minutes.

Alternatively to the connection provided by Sam you can check connections via Linz/Austria but probably they won't save much time either. If you want to go to Prag as quick as possible you have to resort to a private shuttle. There are many Czech companies offering the service (simple google for transfer Prague Passau and compare ratings). They cover the distance in four hours (some claim to do it even faster but given the hilly and meandering road that's not very realistic). Prices start at approx. €200 for a car and €250 for a van. Mayby you can find somebody to share a car / van.

I hired Tomas Roba with www.discoveryeu.com last spring and he was wonderful. He added some stops along our route free that we would not have seen otherwise. He is is very knowledgeable about the area, speaks great English and had free wifi in his van. I will hire him again :) I hope this helps.
his email is [email protected] ...

You might want to checkout Daytrip (http://mydaytrip.com). You could also add a couple stops along the way to really make your trip memorable. We are using them for family transport from Prague to Salzburg later this year.
