Parking for a day in Nurnberg

Hi,
We are staying overnight in Rothenburg and will be driving to Nurnberg to spend a full day. Any suggestions for a good place to park our car for the day? We plan on walking or taking the subway to the various points of interest in Nurnberg.
Thanks so much!

Google for "Parkhaus U-Bahnhof Röthenbach", that's the free car park at the western endpoint of the U2 subway on the B14 coming in from (Rothenburg -) Ansbach. It is signposted shortly after bypassing the Faber Castell pencil factory in Stein bei Nürnberg (by a white "U" on blue background). Keep on the leftmost lane, you will have to do an (signposted) u-turn left to reach the entrance. Take any U2 subway (direction: Flughafen or Ziegelstein or Rathenauplatz); from the escalator, it departs on the left side of the platform. A day ticket for a family (Tagesticket Plus, €11.90, price level A: Nürnberg - Fürth - Stein) is cheaper than a day in the car park; there are two vending machines lefthand of the escalators. The subway will bring you to the main station right opposite the south east entrance to the historical center (Königstor) in 8 min. By car you need for the same distance 20-25 min. You can pick up info material at the NürnbergInfo, Königsstrasse 93 (opposite the mighty round tower of the Königstor).

I've had good luck day tripping to Nurnberg from Rothenburg and finding parking by putting "Centrum" in my GPS and just looking for the big blue "P" (for Parkhaus) signs once I arrived. On really lucky days I've found space in an outdoor lot only a block off the main platz. Even at the peak of the Christmas markets I could always find one nearby in indoor parking. I'm sure training in would also work well, but coming from public transport-challanged Atlanta with two train lines for 6 million people, it's way more stressful for me to find the right train connections than to just drive the dang car in.
