Paris Layout

I have been reading about the layout of Paris, trying to figure out where would be best to stay. I need to be VERY close to the Metro because I will be traveling with my older parents and don't want to wear them out just getting to the metro. I also want to be close to the main sights since they may want to go back to the hotel and take a rest between sightseeing. Any suggestions?

Why did you post this in the Germany forum? My suggestion is to stay near a metro station in the 1st through 6th arrondissement. What neighborhood will be best really depends on what feel of area you are looking for. Most people seem to suggest the Latin Quarter (in the 5th and 6th), Saint Germain (the 6th), or Le Marais (the 3rd and 4th) for visitors seeking to be in a convenient, central location, but just about every area in Paris is well served by mass transit so distrance from a metro stop is not really a factor that will eliminate many choices. I'd look at the buses as well as the metro -- some stations have a lot of walking within them to get to the train or a elevation changes (stairs) that can make getting around in the station just as tiring as getting to the station from a hotel.

Thank you so much for your reply. And for why I posted this in the Germany forum, just a mistake. I was asking a Germany question first and didn't realize. Thanks again for your help
