Overnight Layover in Frankfurt

I am a US citizen traveling to Portugal. I have an overnight layover in Germany on the way back to the US. I would like to leave the airport to stay in a hotel (Sheraton) connected to the airport, but not technically in the transit area. Besides my proof of vaccination and negative Covid test, is there anything else to consider? I have read many articles suggesting leaving the airport is ok, but am concerned that I’m missing something because of Covid regulations. And many of the articles are several months old. Help!

Nope, you are good to go. As of right now, nothing else is needed. Regulations change from week to week, so it is a good idea to keep up to date on them.
What articles are you reading? People on Trip Advisor post up-to-date info all the time or you could check out Deutsche Welle, which gives all the regulations for each of the 16 states as well as for all of Germany. In English.
