Ottobeuren and the old abbey library

We will visit the monastery Ottobeuren on Friday, May 5th. We are particularly interested in seeing the old abbey library that is there. Is there any thing we should be aware of or should prepare for in advance? Do we need reservations for the library and the church?

Also, any recommendations for restaurants?

Thank you for whatever suggestions you may have.

The church is freely accessible during the day, the library only during the opening hours of the museum. Reservations are not necessary (and afaik also not possible). The Kaisersaal is currently being renovated and is unfortunately scaffolded.

BTW, if you have a car then google for Kartause Buxheim. The church with its magnificent baroque choir stalls would be an interesting addition to Ottobeuren
