Options for staying in Bavaria with a family of 5

My wife and I and our 3 children (18, 16, 16) will be vacationing in Bavaria in June for 7 days. Normally when we travel we rent an apartment as a home base and spend all nights there. This has been cheaper than booking 2 hotel rooms per night to accommodate all 5 of us. For Bavaria we will have multiple home bases which I'm still planning but likely Munich for 2 nights, Salzburg area for 2-3 nights and Mittenburg area for 2 nights. I believe my options are hotels or guest houses for such short stays and I'll need to book 2 rooms. Has anyone traveled here with a family of 5 and if so how did you do it? Will I be able to find rooms that have 3 beds? Thanks for your help.

In Munich we stay at Maximilian Munich Apartments and Hotel. Very close to everything. They do have family Apartments.

For short stays in large cities cashing in hotel points works very well. The 5 of us stayed at the Marriott Courtyard near the Ostbahnhof in Munich in 2 rooms, there was a rollaway in one room. If you churn the Marriott credit card you can get 80,000 points enough for 2 rooms/2 nights here.

It’s hard to find 3 bed rooms in hotels.

I’ve stayed for as little as 2 days in apartments, so don’t rule them out, although I have not traveled in summer.

Thanks everyone. I'll keep my eyes open for all of these options.

We traveled through Germany & Austria with two teens last summer, staying in apartments for 2-3 nts each. They are available, just be very careful when looking at the bed configuration. Many places consider a room with a fold out sofa to be a “bedroom” for filter purposes. Even a fold out chair is considered a bed.

We had trouble finding lodging for 4 in Munich, and ended up getting two rooms. I’d book far in advance if cancellation is possible. We’ve had success with booking.com, Airbnb.com and home away.com.

I stayed a few years back at Hotel Uhland. It was me and my two sons. The room we stayed in accommodated at least 4, and I think they had what they called family rooms, too.

We (group of 5) stayed at the Friedwiese Guest House in Bavaria. Took a day trip to Salzburg while staying here. The scenery from the house is AMAZING. The prices unbeatable. The breakfast delicious and very filling. And the hostess really friendly and helpful. I can't recommend it enough!

In Munich, Hotel Uhland has rooms with at least three beds. It's a great, clean, friendly hotel with local charm and included breakfast near the Oktoberfest grounds. In Salzburg, we really liked Hotel Hohenstauffen, local charm, family owned, great included breakfast. Our room was huge and slept 3 with 3 beds. It was very close to the train station, and a 10-15 minute walk to the old town area which we didn't mind. I would say Uhland is moderately priced while Hohenstauffen was quite a value property. I would go back to each in a heartbeat.
