Open Air Museums

We would like to visit one (or maybe 2 if time allows)
I have noted these 3- all are along our route

Fränkisches Freilandmuseum in Bad Windsheim
Freilandmuseum Hohenlohe in Schwabisch Hall
Glentleiten Open Air Museum near Oberammergau

If you have visited any of these (or all of these) which would you recommend- or are they all similar enough that it won't matter?

So much depends on your interests. We visited the Freilandmuseum in Bad Windsheim. I enjoyed it but perhaps stayed too long. The interiors of these houses were understandably dark in an age before cheap window glass. After a couple interiors, which are much like caves, and that would have been enough for me. On a revisit I would allocate more time to Bad Windsheim than the museum but your interests may be much different than mine.

I don't know if you will be in northern Germany, but there is a very nice open air museum in Cloppenburg which we visited in March 2014.

I've been to the Freilandmuseum in Bad Windsheim, and I found the place stunning, a must-see if you care about the history of day-to-day-life in this area. You can get traditional food there at two different eateries and also sample beer from the museum's own brewery.

For broader input than you'll get here, check the Tripadvisor page for this museum - it earned 49 "excellent" ratings and 10 "very good" ratings - that's 59 great scores from 62 different visitors.

I haven't been to the other museums. I would rely on the TA reviews for those as well.

Oh those are lovely Gary Mc!
Thank you all
Bad Windsheim and Freilandmuseum it is. That is actually the one that best fits our itinerary.
