We're planning to fly into Munich the first week of December in the early evening, and planning to pick up our rental car near the city center the next morning after breakfast and head out on a road trip. We'd like to maximize our time in Munich, maybe check out the holiday scene, have a nice meal, and enjoy the ambience of the city.
Any hotel recommendations deeply appreciated!

I always stay in Hotel Blauer-Bock but I don’t know if it’s near your rental car location.
We would recommend Hotel Torbrau which is easy to get to from the Munich airport by taking the S Bahn 8 to the Isartor station. You can exit to ground level at VictualMarket - Tal Street and will be within sight of Hotel Torbrau. It is a lovely historic hotel with a wonderful breakfast and a great restaurant called Schapeau. The hotel gave us a 10% off coupon to use at the restaurant. Hotel Torbrau is an easy walk to Marienplatz.
We are doing the same thing in December and staying at Platzl hotel. My daughter stayed there earlier this year and found it convenient and centrally located.
