On a business trip to Germany

Hi everyone,

I'm going to go on a business trip to Germany next month and I wanted to do a little bit of research because I get a little bit down time. I'm going to go to a city called Hürth near Cologne to get to know our new business partner and to open negotiations.

I've never been to Germany before but I've heard great things about cologne. What activities would you suggest to someone that doesn't have a lot of time but still wants to do some sight seeing there?

The Cathedral in Cologne is a must. Another worth While trip is the middle Rhine Valley between Bingen and Koblenz. It has been covered here extensively, so a quick search should give you lots of info.

My favorite spot is to stop into is Papa Joe's Biersalon in the Altermarkt. Great collection of musical vending machines and player pianos. Tuennes & Schael (Cologne puppet version of Laurel & Hardy) is the invention of Papa Joe's sons. Local Koelsch beer on tap and decent German food. Also Papa Joe's Jazzlokal nearby for live jazz.

Huerth is on the No 18 tram line into Cologne. There is also a regional train station at Huerth-Kalscheuren with frequent trains, every 15 to 30 minutes mid-day, 10 to 20 minutes rush hour.
