So we are staying Friday into Saturday of opening Oktoberfest in Munich. I know the beer is tapped at noon. I saw online tents open at 9am. Can you have a beer in a tent or walk the grounds while the parade is going? Or do you have to wait for the official "tapping". Prost!
It will be very busy on opening day, beer will not be served until the official "tapping". So you can around until then. Hopefully, it will be a nice day and you can find seats outdoors, if the the tents a full, and they usually are on opening day.
As Sam said, opening weekend is very busy. When I led tours I always recommended against Saturday if possible. Sometimes it isn't. Beer is not available until the official tapping at noon, so you get into a tent and wait. The Wiesn opens at 9:00, and it will be crowded. Some "experts" recommend arriving as early as 05:00/06:00. I don't know about that, but it is busy.
Thank you for all this amazing advice! I appreciate it so much!!
