Starting to look now for a hotel for Oktoberfest 2020. If we want to stay somewhat close, short tram ride away, what hotels are still somewhat reasonable? Under $200.00 per night preferable. Any suggestions accepted. Thanks.

If you want to be in Munich then that will be pretty tough to find a room for under $200 per night. The closest that I’m aware of is Motel One. It’s a local chain with several location in town. The desirable location usually sell out by Dec the year before.

Augsburg, is a 30 minute train ride from Munich and has hotels.

If you're willing to take the train/S-Bahn, there are a lot of places within 45 minutes that you can find a room for under $200. We stayed near Stanberg See last year after the festival, and it only cost $150. It is covered on the Munich travel card, so figure EUR 21 for 2 people for the day.

Holzkirchen itself is not much to write home about but it is clean, quiet and safe,a short subway ride into the centre. The hotel had a splendid breakfast, our room was large with a powerful shower in the bathroom.
