oberammergau to ettal

The seems to be a break in the am bus schedule between Oberammergau and Ettal. Has anyone walked...hiked that particular route? By the db site, the last bus is 10:35 and the next one after 13:00.

If you can make this trip Mon-Fri, you'll have more midday bus choices -- running all the way to Linderhof run about once per hour and those into Ettal town more often. But I do see the gap in service if traveling on a weekend. Taxi would also be an option. (I can't advise on hiking.)

Thank you....where did you find that schedule. I went to the db site and looked for Jun 10 (mon) and still saw the times above. thx for your patience.

We were staying in Oberammergau and took the bus to Ettal and "hiked" back on a forested hillside above the main road. I'm not a great athlete but it was a pretty modest hike that I think took us about 90 minutes but definitely check Google maps to confirm - it's been a few years. It was pretty and pleasant and not difficult.

Most buses in southern Bavaria are operated by RVO aka Oberbayernbus. It's a subsidiary of DB, so we should expect to find it's schedules at www.bahn.com. But RVO is notoriously late with feeding it's data into the DB system and the DB cannot show the correct schedule if the carrier misses the deadline (that's a well knwon problem with other, minor bus operators too). But local tourist info offices will know the new schedules, so it's always worth it to look up their sites and search for buses (like I did for the summer schedule above) or email them. If they don't have a English web site just search for "Busverbindungen" or "Fahrpläne".

Thanks to all very much. I was able to go to Oberammergau tourist site and find the local bus schedule. It looks like several are available. Will take grandson and son there in June....thanks again
