Oberammergau and Garmisch-Partenkirken - rain!

Firstly, please forgive the spelling if I got the second one wrong!

We have day trips planned for both of these places in the next few days and it’s going to be raining hard - unavoidable. I’m less concerned about Oberammergau - I think we can just walk around with umbrellas and go in to stores and bakeries and just sight see, but I’m concerned with the second one. We like to hike but I’m thinking it’ll be pretty miserable if it’s rainy hard and not much to see from heights on a rainy day. Anyone else have experience with this?

We are based in Munich, we did a day trip to Salzburg already, just wondering if we should be thinking Plan B - just don’t know what Plan B might be! We don’t need any more time in Munich, feel like we’ve seen a lot of it.

Thanks for any insight you might have!

Nuremberg or Regensburg; Nuremberg has a greater number of indoor options in the event it's raining there as well.

Nuremberg tomorrow: 9:05 - 10:49 on the direct RE train using the München-Nürnberg Regioticket (€31/2) or the Bayern Ticket (€34/2, includes city transport)

Regensburg tomorrow: 8:36 - 10:06, direct ALX train on the Bayern Ticket

Return is also by regional trains using the same day ticket.

Thanks for the input, we will either do Regensburg or go on Sunday and hope for better weather!

We were in Regensburg two weeks ago and found many shops closed on a Monday; I think most shops are closed on Sundays in Germany, but I was surprised by the Monday closure. Went to the TI, but there were no walking tours in English, but if you have cell service turned on, you can use the QR code on the window of the TI to access English walking tours, we were told.
I liked seeing the Danube, it's quite picturesque, there are boat rides, but the Old Town area is small, and I'm not sure there are too many indoor sites to explore if it rains in Regensburg. We took a 7 Euro taxi from the train station to the hotel, as it's quite a maze of small streets to navigate.
Hope your weather improves.

Pat,

We were in Regensburg two weeks ago and found many shops closed on a
Monday; I think most shops are closed on Sundays in Germany, but I was
surprised by the Monday closure.

Was this Monday, April 18? That happened to be Ostermontag / Easter Monday this year.
Ostermontag is in Germany a nation-wide statutory holiday (bundesweiter gesetzlicher Feiertag).
