I personally like Bamberg. It’s smaller than Nuremberg and has a magnificent Cathedral, the old town hall on an island in the Regnitz River, the Neue Residenz and even a Little Venice area. If you go, have the rauchbier.

It’s been a long time since I was in Germany but I remember there being more to do in Nuremberg. Bamberg is charming but small and I didn’t like the rauchbier. If you choose Bamberg and you are a beer lover, close by is the town of Kulmbach, my German home. Lovely small town with a huge beer history and a fortress/castle on the hill. Enjoy!

And Mark, I DID read that post from December. Just wanting to get more perspectives was all. I'm all about homework which is WHY I was looking for input.
