I’ve been told that the best way to get to Prague from Nuremberg is by bus. I’ve looked on line and found several. For anyone that has done this, is one company better? Also do you need to by online tickets, day of tickets? And finally, where is the bus station in each city? By their train stations? Thank you!
There is not much difference between the maior operators, DB's IC bus, Regio Express, Flixbus; the DB bus may even be operated by RegioJet (aka Student Agency). Look up busradar.com for evaluations of other operators. Both bus stations are near the main train stations. Yes, pre booking is essential since fares will go up as your travel date approaches.

While the bus is faster, the trains (there is one transfer in Cheb) are definitly more scenic and can be even cheaper if booked via the E-Shop of Czech Rail.
Station in Nurnberg: the bus stops right in front of Nurnberg main train station entrance
It did until a couple of years ago, but the stop has been transferred to the main bus station (ZOB), Bahnhofstrasse 11 (250 m from the main station).
I Took the DB Bus from Nürnberg to Prague and is very comfortable,I highly recommend it.

Unless you buy an advance purchase, Savings Fare ticket for the Bahn IC bus, it (full fare) costs more than the train, but the discounted tickets are bus specific and non-refundable, so you must be able to commit to a specific bus (date and time).

don't know if this may be of much good to you but this company I have used in Prague many times for airport transfers but they also do transfers from the main River cruise points and indeed form Nuremberg itself, run by an American ex-pat and his Czech wife.
I prefer the train. But I always take a train over a bus...
We prefer the train as well, but in this case, it's my understanding it's easier to take the bus and just a bit faster. After researching, we have reservations on FLIX bus for this trip on 12/24.
Just be careful of the size of your luggage allowed by the bus company. I asked
After contacting the bus company, I received this info on what is allowed on their bus:
Thank you for your message and I am sorry that we were unable to get back to you earlier.
Deutsche Bahn IC Bus services are able to store luggage underneath the seating part of the bus, in essence it is a coach on which you are travelling. Please note as before the restrictions in place on IC Bus services in terms of luggage:
Every passenger is allowed to bring two pieces of hand luggage (not exceeding 70 cm x 50 cm x 30 cm). Oversized luggage is not allowed and will be excluded from transport.
Oversized luggage basically means anything outside the dimensions listed above. We have not been given any further information than this.We hope that this information if helpful, and wish you a pleasant journey.

I did this journey in reverse, Prague to Nuremberg, by train, a few days ago with the transfer in Cheb. It cost about €11 in advance from cd.cz. Other routings were more expensive.
I also recently made a 4.5 hour FlixBus journey, Wrocław to Prague. My bus did not have bathrooms. And there were no apparent facilities at our one stop. Apart from that the journey was comfortable and scenic, especially from my front row "panoramic" view reserved seat.
I have taken the DB bus from Nuremberg to Prague about 3 years ago. The bus itself is comfortable. The destination stop in Prague was a simple bus stop -- not a station --- across from the Prague train station on a six lane busy highway. It was night and a safe walkway to the train station was not visible. Being left at a bus stop at night was not pleasant.
.
This Bahn web page map shows the unloading zone for the IC bus being right in front of the train station today. However, the Google maps view of the bus island across from the station shows some large glass "bird cages" with people entering. I think they are elevators to a level below the highway where you can walk under to the station.
the bus actually stops on Wilsonova right outside the old entrance/exit to the train station, you have to enter into the station to get further transport options.
