I'm checking train schedules and fares from Nuremberg to Berlin and I've seen ICE trains with journey duration ranging from 2h40 to 3h30. But for some reason, once I set the dates for the end of August, I'm only seeing ICE trains that take average 5 hours and not many direct trains. My understanding is that trains don't sell out, so I'm not sure what I'm missing.

There must be some track work scheduled for the last week of August. The direct train I see at 8:05 am on Aug 27 shows it calling at Wuerzburg, which is a diversion for the normal hi-speed line from Nuremberg to Erfurt (and on to Berlin).
