Any suggestions on what to see in Nuremberg and where to stay in Nuremberg for 1 night? We are passing through Nuremberg in mid July and will be there only for 3/4 of a day. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Without knowing personal interests Nuremberg tourism website answers those questions.
We arrived by train and walked to stay at the Hampton Inn.
We had a lovely stay at the Hotel Victoria, right inside the city walls (and a 2 minute walk from the train station). Clean, great location, wonderful breakfast buffet (probably the best we had on our 3 week trip). You get a little bit of noise from the street below, but it wasn't unbearable.
Thanks for all of the info. We just booked a room at Hotel Victoria, as recommended. And the link that was sent about the sights was very helpful.
Another vote for Hotel Victoria. Reasonable price. Reasonably close to the train station. They have parking, too, if needed.
I stayed at Hotel Drei Raben. I think it's just up the street from Victoria. It's a boutique hotel with Nuremberg themed rooms. The staff was wonderful and it was clean and convenient. It also had air conditioning in the room we were in.
This is more or less my standard recommendation for a short visit: I would just walk the old town. I would walk the Pegnitz River the best I can through the old city. Check out the Kettensteg and the Weißgerbergasse (7 houses that survived the bombings). Continue on to one of my favorite places (early sun) the square Platz am Tiergärtnertor near the Dürer-Haus and the Der Hase von Jürgen Goertz (Nürnberger Hasen). You can go through the Tiergärtnertor here and around the back of the wall/castle past the Hexenhäusle into the castle. On the way down to the Hauptmarkt eat a „Drei im Weggla“ from the Bratwursthäusle. The toy museum is fun. If you have some time you can take a streetcar to the Dokumentationszentrum Reichsparteitagsgelände and the Zeppelinfeld, but I would defiantly do the old city first. In summer I would recommend the Biergarten near the Krakauer Turm (Kopernikus).
That was very helpful MCHPP. Thanks so much.
