Nuremberg Nazi Documentation Center (Doku-Zentrum).

This museum is being redone. Main entrance is closed. Go around to left down the driveway to the ticket office for directions to enter the interim exhibit, which is good.
This place is huge. We didn't get to the zeppelin field rally grounds because our feets were worn out so we sat on a bench and looked at the flamingo pedal boats on the lake with the corner of the grey rally building in the background. What a contradiction.

What a contradiction.

What a cool contradiction!

(In the sense that evil is replaced by flamingo pedal boats)

I went to the party rally grounds once, I remember walking a long way, maybe one hour from the youth hostel to the site. Part of it was fenced off. This was in 1973.

I remember visiting the old NAZI rally grounds while living in Germany over 35 years ago. The USA military had control of it and had broken it up into multiple athletic fields.

With the main museum being remodeled, would you still recommend a visit to the interim exhibit? How long did the temporary exhibit take to go through? Were there any other WW2 historical sites you'd recommend?

It was well worth a visit. Took about 30 minutes to read the information.
Be sure to go into the courtyard in the center of the horseshoe building (Doc Centrum) to get a feel for the size.
We visited the castle and at the top of the tower were photos of the bombed out city next to corresponding windows. Other than that we didn't spend much time searching out WW2 sites. We did go to Auschwitz in Poland. We know all about the war and battles but we were there more for culture, food and beer. The war affected everything in Germany and Europe.

Cheryl - we were there a few weeks ago and would also recommend a visit to the Nuremberg trial courtrooms just outside of town. It was very informative and historical.
