New Year's eve in Germany ?

Current advice seems to be stick to one country to avoid cross-border problems, so --- since New Year's eve in Vienna is out, what city in Germany ?? 70+ travelers, not big on raucous crowds. (Still hoping that Christmas markets will be open in December)_

Providing that Silvester celebrating is allowed at all this year... I had a phase where we went out for a few overnights including Silvester with party, dancing, Dinner for One play, skits etc. River towns and Braueri drew me and were fun. Silvester in Heidelberg, Regensburg, Miltenberg (Braueri), Neuburg an der Donau (Braueri), Essing Altmühltal (Braueri). Others - Missen-Wilhams (Braueri), Böbrach (Braueri), Sulzbach-Rosenberg (Braueri) and fun was Bad Nauheim (Elvis). All these towns really turned out with a lot of fireworks and good fun. Some better than others. With visiting family, grandkids and COVID we have stayed closer to home the last few years. I hope things can come back to the days prior to COVID. I don't think you could go wrong then.

In the far north of Germany there is an obscure tradition known as Rummelpottlaufen. It's typically found in small towns on the islands and northwestern Schleswig-Holstein. It's EXTREMELY regional, to the point where even those in other parts of Germany not that far away are often not familiar with the tradition. It varies slightly, but here is a fun description I found:

So I would say see if you can find a small village to enjoy such festivities; Föhr is a great choice.
