Neuschwanstien Backpack rules

The website for the castle tours says " luggage, i.e. suitcases and backpacks" are not allowed in the castles. Does anyone know if this includes smaller purse style backpacks or daypacks? Thank You!

My experience in other German museums/palaces (although not Neuschwanstein, which I have not visited) is that purses with a single strap over one shoulder (that can be pulled forward and out of the way of other visitors or displays) are acceptable, but any backpacks normally worn on both shoulders that might impact something/someone when you turn around are not. I don't know specifically about "purse-style" backpacks.

I was concerned when I read this too, since I'll be going this weekend if the weather holds out. Then I read this on their website:

"Regular-size backpacks and handbags can be taken into the tours. Large luggage, hiking backpacks or military backpacks are not allowed inside the castles and the museum."

I was just there three weeks ago and day packs, as well as small to medium sized purses, were allowed. Some of the larger day packs had to be worn on the front of the body for safety (of museum display/artifact) and convenience (of other tour members) purposes.
