Neuschwanstein & HohenSchwangau day trip - best transportation and timing?

1) Does it matter if a Friday or Saturday or for crowds or transportation at end of June?
2) For 4 adults leaving from Munich, what is the best way to go? Is it worth to get a driver and private car? Better to take the train/bus?
3) If leaving from Munich, what is the first timed tour I can reasonably expect to make?

Thanks!

Are you really committed to going? I found this to be a hot, crowded, exhausting day of waiting and lines, and the main attraction was a disappointment to me. The N'Stein tour was only about 30 minutes, and I read recently that some of the areas are closed for renovation. Obviously, you can research this. Is St Mary's Bridge open now?
Yes there will be crowds and crowds, no matter the day of the week.

Are there tickets still available? Perhaps your checking the website will answer your questions.

If this is your dream, obviously you must do it, but it is alot of work.

Have a great trip! Safe travels!

You have to make reservations in advance so the day doesn’t matter much. HOWEVER using the Bayern Ticket on Saturday you can leave before 9:00:AM so you can get there early and enjoy the castle area and Fussen more.
