I would like to depart from Munich (checking out of our hotel), go to King Ludwig's castles for part of the day, and then continue on to Rothenburg ob der Tauber & check in to the next hotel. Is this possible? Are their large lockers at the train station near the castles? Thanks for your help!
I'm not positive about luggage storage at the Füssen rail station, but just realize that the castles are a few kilometers from the town. You would need to take a shuttle bus, although some people enjoy the walk.
There are luggage lockers at the Füssen train station.
Check your train schedules and then make reservations for the castles so you won't waste time.
I took this picture of the lockers at Füssen Bahnhof in 2009. As you can see, some are quite large. The Hohenschwangau TI office is right next to the bus stop. They tell me you can stash your luggage there behind the counter. I understand there are also "Garderobe" (lockers that only take a deposit) at the castles, although I haven't seen them.
Or how about this--is there a tour guide or other way to get from Munich to Bacharach with stops at the castles & Rothenburg? Or is that crazy talk? This is the part of our trip that has me worried about logisitcs.
I started a new topic on the tour/car idea.
