Neuschwanstein Castle Planning-Walking Outside of Hours

Hello!

Are we able to walk around outside of the castle Neuschwanstein outside of hours, before or after it opens? Or do we have to wait until their regular hours? We will be there June 14 and planning to arrive at 06:30 and maybe wanting to walk around after all tours leaves at 7pm. Thank you

You are going to be there for over 12 hours? Well, sure, you can; but why? If planning on arriving that early, are you staying in Fussen the night before and with a car? Otherwise you would have to walk from Fussen; i dont think the buses run that early. If you have a car, you need to park in one of the private parking lots in Hohenschwangau. I think the cost for a car is 10€. That early (or late) in the day, you will have to walk up the steep hill (about 2km) to the castle and about another 300 m uphill to Marienbrucke bridge. Because it is situated at the top of a hill with sheer cliffs on most sides, it is not possible to walk around the whole castle outside the walls. But there is a paved road leading to the entrance along one side of the castle.

We are traveling from Munich to Lucerne and wanting to make a pit stop at Neuschwanstein on the way. We were wondering if we take an early train if we can go walk around the outside of the castle and bridge before it opens when there are less people there, then head to Lucerne after around 9am. Thank you!

Tourist Information Füssen or Ticket-Center Neuschwanstein-Hohenschwangau as far as if you can get close to the castle before opening times. You will need a bus, taxi, Uber etc. unless you are ready to walk 5-6k one-way from the Füssen Bahnhof and back. You probably will have to settle with some distance views from the fields between Schwangau and Neuschwanstein.
