Neuschwanstein Castle Lego set to release

If there’s anyone out there who enjoys building Lego sets and likes castles, you might be interested to know that Lego is releasing a Neuschwanstein Castle Lego set in August of this year.

It looks really interesting. It’s around 3500 pieces, and you can even change the trees from summer to autumn colors. For photos and details, check the link below.

Kathy, that would be really beautiful, I'll bet!

When I was visiting Durham Cathedral in England in 2024, there was a Lego copy of the cathedral that was really gorgeous. Not a set—it was custom built, and very cool.

You would have to be crazy to build Neuschwanstein Castle, with Legos.

Frank, that price is pretty par for the course for a set that size.

jkh, why would say that? There are loads of people who love putting those together. The office manager at my law firm built quite a few. Every time she would finish one, she'd bring it into the office, and we would all come and admire it. I still remember the huge ferris wheel she built that would go around and around. I think they're fascinating.

My grandsons love legos.
The younger one is into art and recently finished the Mona Lisa in legos. He said it was fun to build.
I told him I would purchase the Starry Night set if he did well in school. And yes, he did. They just finished last Friday so I am waiting for the phone call or should I expect a text message, lol

Thanks for the tip, Mardee. My husband's brother, who takes care of their 92 year old mother, loves Lego. It's how he unwinds. I think I know what to get him for Christmas. We've gotten him the Titanic before.

For anyone using Washington Dulles airport there is an amazing and unique 50,000 piece Lego model of yes, Washington Dulles airport, on display. It’s in the area on departure level between the check in counters and security. I have heard that the same artist has recently unveiled a 150,000 piece Reagan National model at that airport, but I haven’t seen that one yet.

Trotter, the Titanic would be so interesting! I keep thinking that I would like to try one. My grandson loved them as a kid but sort of got out of the habit. But it would be to try one that wasn't too difficult.

Slate, how cool! There is a Lego model of Durham Cathedral in England that I saw last year, and it was really beautiful.

Mardee, if you want a smaller but fun model to try there’s a Vespa and a Land Rover Defender.

On the Lego website there’s a yellow travel suitcase, complete with camera and what looks like a passport. Two weeks ago at Costco I saw the Lego set to make Vincent van Gogh’s sunflowers.

My daughter (age 54) is into building Lego sets of famous places and buildings. She was raised on Legos and always has enjoyed making things with them. She has done 5 or 6, but nothing as big and elaborate as Newschwanstein. Working with Legos can be very calming.

Neuschwanstein Castle was built by Mad King Ludwig. Just a little play on words that I could not resist.

Trotter, I might check those out, although I love buildings rather than cars, so I might try to find a smaller set that has some cool architecture.

Oh, that is funny! Sorry, I totally missed that. :-)

Nancy, that's what our office manager said. It's like a puzzle but more detailed and more difficult but still calming.

Oh man, that would be so much fun to build. I love Legos, as do my granddaughters. I just don’t think I can cough up $280 for either me or them, LOL!
