I am going to Germany for 4 weeks. I am going with my friends. I think travel insurance is essential in every part of the world. I am looking for some information about travel insurance policy of German government. I got some basic idea about German government insurance policy. Can anyone help me to take the right decision?

I checked with my healthcare insurance company, and I'm covered worldwide for accidents/healthcare.
My wife is retired and on Medicare with a Supplement policy. She too is covered worldwide for accidents/healthcare insurance.
We chose not to get travel insurance.
Many are concerned about transportation home if they need an air ambulance, etc. I'm fortunate to have a sister with a private plane capable of such trips.
