Need Recommendations for a hotel near the Christmas Markets in Nuremberg

My sister and I are going to be in Nuremberg a day early before boarding a Christmas Market river cruise. We would like to stay in a hotel that is near the Nuremberg Christmas market and possibly a train station. We will be coming in from Rothenburg the day before. Does anyone have a hotel they love? Thanks for the help!

I have stayed in the Ringhotel Lowe's Merkur both for business and pleasure. It's just out the south entrance to the main train station and clean with a good staff. There are several good places to eat within a block, and it's a 10 minute walk to the Christmas market.

For a more upscale place Le Meridian is right across from the main entrance to the train station and has the best bar in the city. It was high on my preferred places back when I had an expense account.

On a side note, the place next to Le Meridian was, for decades, run by the US Army as their local hotel. I have not stayed there since it was made private and remodeled.

The old town center of Nürnberg is not that large and the Christmas Market is spread from the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) to the Hauptmarkt square . If you are anywhere near the Hauptbahnhof you can easily reach the Christmas Market. It is probably easiest to use HRS.Com and search for hotels near the main train station. There are a wealth of hotels near the station and I have found the reviews at HRS.Com to be accurate to my taste.

I have stayed at the Hotel Marienbad right at the station and liked it. The Art and Business hotel was a few blocks away and a bit nicer. There were a couple Ibis Hotels and a Motel One in the area if you are looking for more of a bargain.

You can stay at the market itself if you book your room in Hotel Saxx which is located right at the western edge of the main market (Hauptmarkt) and has an unbeatable view on the center of the Christkindlesmarkt and the Frauenkirche (St Mary); you can also follow from there the late afternoon performances of choirs and music groups easily. Book early and don't forget to request a room with view on the market (preferably on the 2nd or 3d floor), they sell out rapidly.

I stayed at Hotel Victoria just inside the old town wall and liked it quite a bit. Google Maps says it’s a 3 minute walk from the train station. The walk to the market is also short and easy. No glorious view of the market, but I found price and comfort to be right for me.
