Need opinions FAST...April or May!

Hi Everyone!
I would like opinions on the following:
I have a great opportunity to use my Delta miles...sale ends in about 40 mins! I can go to Frankfurt Germany on Delta One first class round trip in April for 98,000 miles specifically April 10th to 25th .....OR May 15th to 30th HOWEVER in May its cost 90,000 miles and is only 1st class one way and the other way would be Delta comfort class. Keep in mind I have very bad knees and always pay for comfort class as I can even get in and out of main cabin seats without my knees giving way or my legs jumping terribly. I use a cane to get around Europe and have to ask for assistance in large airports like Paris Charles Degall so the extra room and service really helps me when I can afford it.

Would you rather go in April and have round trip Delta one accommodations or May and only have half the accommodations.
It doesn't make a difference to me for work going April or May I can do either one.

We will be renting a car and traveling the main sites as I have never been to Germany. Are all sites open in April? I can look up weather averages but not the same as asking someone who has been there. April or May?

Thanks so much!

If going to Germany I would prefer to go, weather wise, in May. The days are longer and it should be drier.

But April is perfectly fine as far as "sights". KD Rhine boats start operating about April 7.

Thanks! i just found out I have til 3am Eastern so I am still contemplating this. My husband is irked that in value going in May we are getting much less. We priced in dollars the cost of Delta one round trip would be 2,200. per person so its a good sale in milage. And we priced the cost of Delta one one way and comfort class going home and its 1750 per person he feels the value of round trip delta one is greater. We went to Greece in April which of course is much warmer but it was very quiet there....roads empty. Can anyone share if there is a difference on the roads between April and May?

Where do you live? Do you notice any difference in traffic on the roads between April and May? Besides being a very interesting tourist destination, Germany is a major modern industrial nation. They work 9 to 5 just like here. They love their weekends and they love their vacations. It certainly isn't Greece, just ask the Greeks.

Well Sam...if there is no traffic I live 10 minutes away from the George Washington Bridge. The other day I got into the city in 15 mins flat! ...not rush hr of course! I do see what you are saying. I failed to mention I have been to England, Scotland, France, Spain Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Czech ,Hungary as well, Greece. I love love love Europe. Germany has been later on my list because my husband is Jewish and I waited til he was ready and said to me he would like to go. We have now crossed Russia off of our wish list (due to obvious political reasons) and China is teetering on maybe a no go. There is still so much more to see and I have been to these countries more then once as you can't see it all. I work with children with autism and decided to make a commitment to travel because I love my job and love helping children with special needs but I needed an outlet to walk away from it all and come back refreshed.
So what I really meant was is the in flux of tourists about the same between April and May? I am sensitive to standing on lines at sites given my need for a cane and severe knee/leg pain standing for long periods. I bring a portable chair but I hate wasting energy before I get to the site itself. I push as hard as I can. So while I do realize how industrial Germany is I am really comparing minor benefits and drawbacks to make this decision.

What "sights" are you concerned with? I can think only about a fairly long line for the Pergamon Museum in Berlin in July. Neuschwanstein has timed ticket appointments. So does the Reichstag in Berlin.

You'll be familiar with the Garden State Parkway and the NJ Turnpike. German autobahns will be similar with even more truck traffic, but in better repair and no tolls. The German word is Stau, traffic jam.

Again, weather is better in May, but tourist things are about the same.

So the deadline is looming - what have you chosen?

April can be gorgeous in Germany. The trees all in bloom, Magnolias, Cherry trees, Chestnut trees, Buckeyes, as well as the tulips, etc. It might rain a bit more than in May, but still may be beautiful spring weather.

Take the better seats.

Thanks to everyone who replied. Your posts really helped me alot last night. I was so exhausted when we finally booked the tickets just before the 3am deadline that I passed out...then had to work.....so sorry for my delayed answer. Drum roll please.....
we went with........APRIL!!!!!
The deciding factors were that since its still spring time and people are outside, trees in bloom etc. the difference in degrees wasn't enough for me to give up Delta one both ways. Several posters reminded me of that and pointed out it may rain more in May.
But the ultimate factor was something I didn't mention....
Keukenhof Gardens near Amsterdam is open in April and closes by May 13th. I went to see the 7 million flower display a few years ago and really want the option to go again. It was breathtaking. Since its such a small window each year its hard to make it happen. From Frankfurt we can puddle jump a 1 hr flight to Amsterdam and right at the airport they have buses that take you to the gardens. There are also train options too. Its a doable 1 day trip to add into my unplanned German itinerary. So that was the final straw that tipped my scales to April.
Thanks once again to all who helped me decide.

It is hard to go wrong when you factor Keukenhof into the schedule...

Hi,

My vote is for May. I've been in Germany once in April, (2014) western and eastern, but May is much better. I'll be back there next May
