Need hotel near Berlin Brandenburg Airport for last night

My flight for the US (end of May) leaves BER at 6:15 am, so I'm thinking it would be best to stay near the airport the last night. Can anyone recommend a hotel close by that has some kind of shuttle service or public transport? Thanks!

The Steigenberger Hotel is right at the airport, a couple of minutes' walk to the terminal. I don't know of any other near the airport. I stayed there the night before an early flight and it was fine, though expensive. It has a restaurant, I don't know what other landside food options the airport might have.

Thanks! That sounds like a good option, especially the short walk as opposed to a shuttle at 4:30 in the morning.

I live in Berlin. You can spend that last night in the city! For a 6:15 flight you want to be at the airport at 4:15. There are many trains directly into the airport from the city from all the main train stations. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay in the city center near a train station and leave my hotel around 3:15. Confirm the train times on google maps - destination ‘BER Airport - Terminal 1-2’ will put you right underneath the checkin counter, so you don’t need any shuttle.

For example, Hotel Amano Grand Central is right next to the main train station and just a 30 minute train ride to the terminal for less than 4€. And it’s a nice spot for an evening walk along the Spree past the Reichstag the night before.

Thank you, Alex - I will definitely think about that. But I can tell you that the main reason I am thinking of finding an airport hotel is because the thought of getting up at 2:30 to get dressed, grab my luggage, leave, then find a train and get to the airport by 4:15 may be too much for my sleep-deprived brain to do. :) At my age, I need all the sleep I can get, so that extra hour I get will make a big difference. I will be in the Berlin for a day or so before I leave (at least, that is my plan) so will have plenty of opportunity to see a few more things in the city. And I will also be spending five days there when I get into Germany at the beginning of my trip.

Ok, well, now you know how to find the train to the Steigenberger on your last day. It’s the ABC ticket. Have a great time!

The S9 train took about 45 minutes from Hackescher Markt to BER in late afternoon.

Take not of Alexp's comment regarding the ABC ticket.
We used the BVG app for our S-bahn tickets and had to add the extension for 'C' to the more common 'AB' ticket. There were two people fined 60 Euro in our train car for not having the correct ticket when going to the airport.

The BVG app made getting tickets pretty easy and I highly recommend it.

Ha, I have the BVG app (and just about every other German transportation app out there). :) But thank you for the reminder about getting the correct ticket to the airport - I definitely do not want a €60 fine!
