Need help with train ticket purchase

I'm trying to purchase a ticket from Munich to Lucerne however I'm not really sure what to choose.

I am buying 2 tickets, one for me and one for my friend. When i get to this page

Do i select book for myself or book for someone else - both are true. I think it should be book for myself but where do i enter in my friend's details because the next page is the payment screen.

The other thing is, how do i select my seat, it seems to automatically select it for me but doesn't let me choose where to sit. I'm booking for June 2024 where I think there is compulsory seat reservation.

The next screen is the passenger screen, doesn't show seat plan.

Thanks

Where are you booking this?

Book at www.bahn.de, and nowhere else

Important: Are you buying one ticket for two persons (are you traveling together) or two tickets?

If one ticket for two persons you just enter that there will be 2 persons, and book for yourself. The ticket will have one name, yours, and will mention that it is for two persons.

Yes booking on bahn.de. Thanks. I"m buying two tickets in the same transaction, one for me and one for a friend. We are travelling together. I'm just buying on her behalf.

Do you know the issue with the seat selection? I know previously you said it was auto assigned. Can I change it?

I think that they are auto assigned. So far in advance they probably don't even know which trainset they will use...

So just buy a ticket for 2 persons, and book for yourself. DB is only interested in the name of the first passenger normally.

I am not sure. Having compulsory reservations with trains is a very new thing for DB. I have no experience with it myself.

Having compulsory reservations with trains is a very new thing for DB.

This is due to the UEFA European Football Championship and will disappear again in the fall.
