hey guys staying in germany munich sept 20 thru sept 23 i know will be hitting oktoberfest on the first day which sucks i know its busy but thats how my trip is planned out wondering which hotels to stay in munich i guess somewhat near the festival .

Might try Hotel Uhland, near the Bier Garten, and not too far from the main train station; good luck; I'm going in June and was lucky to get a room there booked it in August last year.

While Hotel Uhland would be a great choice, I doubt that you'll be able to get a booking during Oktoberfest according to their website. You might be able to find something by checking each of the hotels listed in the Guidebook and if you can find one, book SOON. You could also try Hotel Royal which is near the station, as it's an easy walk from there to Theresienwiese (about 15 minutes or so as I recall).

Well it doesn't have to be near by it can a couple train stops or it can 15 or 20 min away it's doesn't have to be nearby.

Actually the 'Fest is more than 2 weeks long- 20-23 Sep is the first weekend. I would
recommend looking at www.Booking.com to see what rooms are available this late. And you are correct, anyplace close to an S-bahn or U-bahn stop will be adequate - the maps on the Booking.com site shows the location of these stops along with the hotel locations. Be prepared for hotel sticker shock.... You could stay in a town nearby and train in since the 'Fest location is only about 6 blocks from the Hauptbahnhof, but it would take some time and added expense to use this technique. And some of us have been known to get on the wrong train when returning at the end of the day.... Have a good trip!!!!
