Nebra Sky Disk

Is the Halle State Museum of Prehistory closed because of the pandemic? Is it worth the trip to see the Nebra Sky Disk? Where to stay overnight?

The actual disk is apparently housed in the Halle museum and I have never visited there, so can't comment. I did visit the Nebra site in July 2017. The weather was nice and we walked up and down the hill from the parking area past the visitors center to the site. I enjoyed the site and tower. The visitors center has replicas, exhibits, a theater, gift shop and café. You have to pay to get into the visitors center. Personally I thought it was all a bit overhyped with a dab of conjecture, but nice for a visit. There was some type of shuttle from the parking area to the visitors center and site. We stayed in Nebra, but I can't say I would recommend the hotel. We were surprised how much we liked the wine from the Saale-Unstrut wine region. Freyburg (Unstrut) was worth a visit and maybe a better place for overnight. We also stopped by the Geiseltalsee. The region still has a bit of old east flavor. The Nebra visitors center website does say they will reopen 4 May, but with restrictions due to the coronavirus.
