Navigating Terminal 2 Munich connecting flights.

I am American citizen, will be connecting flights in Munich Airport this May 17th/18th with very limitated time.
Arriving 13:40 from LAX to terminal 2 flight LH453. The connection is to flight LH2418 departure to Stockholm May 18th at 17:25 from Terminal 2. That is 95 minutes if the arrival from USA is on time.
My concerns are:
Should I pass migration control?
(No bag pick up because I will ask in LAX to Lufthansa staff to check it to last destination Stockholm).
Should I go through Security screening again ?
There is any Escorts or fast track as exists in other airports, to help Lufthansa passengers not to waste time reaching departure gates of next flight to avoid the above mentioned steps ?

Please advise to my email

Thanks

You should be fine. Munich is a very efficient airport for connections. I had a connection there in October that was just 85 minutes and I had time to spare even with a flight that was delayed on the runway getting to the gate. Just follow the signs to your departure gate. This will take you through all the necessary checkpoints.

You will go through passport control as this is your first point of entry into the Schengen area. I am not sure if there will be a secondary security check, but you will know if you come to one. I did this route in the opposite direction (flying back to the U.S.) and in the gates where the U.S. departures were, some people were selected to go through a security screening prior to entering the gate area. However, this may have been specific to the U.S. bound flights. Not everyone was selected. I was asked a few questions and then told to proceed to the gate without any further screening. Some people were selected to have their bags screened.

I think your departure is at 15:15 and you land in Stockholm at 17:25. That would be a 95 minute change time, which should be sufficient, in my limited experience. You will pass through Schengen Immigration and get your passport stamped and proceed to your gate. No added security screening. You will not need an escort, and might have time for a coffee before you board your flight to Stockholm.

No bag pick up because I will ask in LAX to Lufthansa staff to check it to last destination Stockholm).

I don't think you need to ask, as your ticket will have ARN as final destination and that is where your bag will go. You will go through customs in Stockholm, which should be nothing except walking out the "Nothing to declare" door after you pick your bag up from the baggage carousel.

Keep in mind that LH453 from LAX is on an Airbus A380, which is a giant, double-deck plane. When I took this flight last December, I was surprised how quickly people boarded and exited the plane, but I was in business going and premium economy returning. The point is that if you are in economy, it may take awhile to get off the plane in Munich.

The minimum connection time in Munich is 40 minutes, so you should be fine. You should arrive at the T2 Satellite, and will most likely be directed to take the underground train to T2 - just follow the signs to your departing gate number. You will pass through immigration control at some point - I don't recall where it was, but it was very efficient, as is the airport overall and Lufthansa's operations there - the airline controls those two terminals, so that may serve as their fast track implementation. You won't go through security again, and your bag should be checked through to Stockholm.

At least today, the flight from LAX lands at K gates in the satellite terminal, and that is likely not to change since that is where immigration is located and gates that can handle an A380. Flight to Stockholm is going from L gates, also in the satellite terminal, so that would be easy. But on your travel date that could change. The underground train to the main T2 terminal is quick and easy, so not a big deal.

In the last 25 years, I've flow into MUC three times and out five times, but I haven't used the airport since 2013, before the T2 Satellite was built, but I have studied the website to try to figure out what I might do in the future.

Go here to see a map of the Munich airport. G and H gates are on different floors in the original Terminal 2 building which is connected to the new satellite building, gates K and L, via separate underground shuttles, one for the Schengen zone (G and K) and one for the out-of-Schengen zone (H and L). I believe there are immigration check points in each building. I think both immigration and the shuttle access are in the middle of each long building. You can go between floors in a building and between buildings entirely within one security zone.

I looked at the arrival and departure information for your flights for a typical day in the near future. Gates, of course, can change. On that day your flight from LAX was arriving at gate H48, which is at the extreme southern end of the original T2 building. Your departing flight was from an unnamed gate on the K level of the satellite building. On arrival, you should proceed to the middle of the building where you could go through immigration, then go down through the G level to the shuttle station and take the Schengen shuttle to the K gates in the satellite.

Alternatively, you could stay in the out-of-Schengen zone and take the shuttle to the L level of the Satellite and go through immigration there to get to the K gates.

I fear that you may become confused by reading the post above. No need to over think it - just follow the signs to the gate number for your departing flight - you will be processed by immigration along the way. If you need to take the train it will be along the path to your gate.
