My son is traveling to Bremerhaven for work and is nervous about navigating the Central train station in Hamburg. I know it’s quite large and very busy - but I haven’t been there so can’t help. Any tips would be so helpful!
Here is a plan that might be helpful: https://www.bahnhof.de/downloads/station-plans/2514.pdf
Yes, it is large and busy. But it's also very easy to navigate, look at the departure boards to find your next train. Then go up the stairs, over to your next track and down the stairs.
There's also this helpful guide from the Man in Seat 61. I referred to this before I had to transfer there going to and coming from Copenhagen a couple of years ago and found it really helpful.
Hamburg Hbf has a really easy structure: just one level with all tracks in parallel with two bridges above to access the tracks (photo) which numbers are well displayed on the bridges.
The DB app shows in which section of a track (A - G) the booked waggon number is expected (link, see #11/16 in "Functions").
He shall protect all his belongings - beware of pickpockets.
Is he changing trains at Hamburg Hbf or starting there?
See if any travelers/vloggers have posted video tours of the station on YouTube. I’ve previewed airports and train stations this way.

Thanks all -
He navigated the airport/Hauptbahnhauf/Bremmerhaven trip successfully today. All tips were very helpful and much appreciated.
Happy Travels!
