There is a river in Germany that was featured in one of Rick Steves shows where people walk upstream and then float down the river. I will be in Germany this summer and would love to squeeze it in before I finalize travel plans. Anyone know what I am talking about? Thanks!

I remember something about that, but it was the Aare river in Bern, Switzerland. The Aare goes around a big bend at Bern, so the entrance and egress are not far apart.

That's an easy problem to fix - simply add Switzerland to your Itinerary. It's a beautiful country and well worth a visit.

The Swiss seem to do this in every river. They do this in Basel on the Rhine, although it's a pretty fast-moving experience! Basel is on the German-Swiss border so it might be possible for you to squeeze it in.
