After reading multiple post on the N'Stein castle, I have decided I prefer to just see it from the outside. Where is the best place to go for views of the castle?

Marienbrücke. Mary's bridge above Pöllat Gorge.

In addtion to the aforememtione Marienbrücke. Mary's bridge above Pöllat Gorge. You also get some nice views from the Hohenschwangau Castle which is located near by. We enjoyed it more as it was where King Ludwig II actually lived.

The day we visited the castle it was so foggy we couldn’t see anything that was more than 20 feet away.

Ha ha, I was there with my parents years ago in October and could not see it until arms reach in the fog. Just a nice quick look is in the fields between the castle and Schwangau.
