My current trip itinerary, what do you think?

So this is the current state of my trip planning for my wife and I upcoming Germany/Czechia/Austria trip. Since the majority of the time will be in Germany I thought I'd post it here.
Sunday August 25 arrive in Berlin in afternoon, spend night in Berlin.
Monday late morning off to Dresden (will be coming back to Berlin at the end). Monday afternoon spend time in Dresden's renovated historic area.
Tuesday, more Dresden activities, perhaps the military museum/ visiting Dresden Neustadt, or Loschwitz area.
Wednesday Aug 28, off to Prague, probably late morning train.
Either Sat or Sun Sept 1, IC bus from Prague to Nurnberg, Probably Sunday because Prague looks so darn beautiful, adult Disneyland notwithstanding.
So, call it Sun Sep 1, IC bus arrives around 1, spend the rest of the afternoon into evening visiting Nurnberg, where I spend two summers as a teenager.
Monday daytrip to Bamberg, using the VGN ticket
Tuesday, perhaps more Nurnberg activities or daytrip to Wurzburg.
Wed, Sep 3, off to Munich in the morning, probably take the RE train leaving just after 9 with a Bayernticket, but tempted to splurge on two 19.90 euro IC tickets and get to Munich in just over an hour. For that day, Munich altstadt wandering, probably go into the Residenz.
Thurs, one part of the day for beautiful architecture, so the Bogenhaus area north of Prinzregentenstrasse just on the east side of the Isar, then bus over to some of the Schwabing neighborhoods just to the west of the Englischer garten, following along on my art
noveau, jugenstil, Grunderzeit obsession. Second part of the day, maybe more altstadt area visiting, or trip to BMW welt, or the Transportation museum.
Friday, day trip time, perhaps Tegernsee, with stop in Bad Tolz on the way back, or somewhere else like Landshut, Augsburg etc.
Sat Sep 6, off to Salzburg in the morning. Rest of the day Salzburg, altstadt visiting, definitely trip up to the Monchsberg.
Sun Sep 7 some kind of Salzburg day trip, perhaps a bus out to one of the lakes, like to Fuschlsee with a nice walk around the lake, but I'm thinking no Halstatt.
Monday, off to Garmisch Partenkirchen, perhaps with this route. Buy OBB railjet tickets to Innsbruck (right now only about 20 euros each) spend some time in Innsbruck, then with the Regio Werdenfels +Innsbruck, go Innsbruck to GP. the bulk of this day is cut up by train travel, more than any other day on this trip, but it seems like a nice alpine train travel itinerary, plus some time in Innsbruck.
Tuesday morning the partnachklamm looks like a fun outing. Afternoon RVO bus to Linderhof, and after that maybe bus into Oberammergau, getting back on the later side that day.
Wednesday, depending on weather trip to Zugspitze, then on the way down walk around the Eibsee. If weather isn't cooperating, maybe just Eibsee.
Thursday Sep 11, from GP to either Erfurt or Leipzig. I'm leaning toward Erfurt, with a Munich IC connection we could leave around 10, get to Erfurt by 2 which seems really convenient, allowing some afternoon evening time in Erfurt.
Fri, spend part of day in Erfurt, part in Weimar.
Sat, leave Erfurt in morning, either straight back to Berlin, or stop off in Wittenberg. Stay in Berlin from Saturday night thru flight Wednesday morning. During our Berlin stay our relatives will probably give guidance, and if not I've got plenty of ideas.

I feel this itinerary has a nice mix of cities, towns, some alps mixed in as well. Definitely not "off the beaten path" but some of the more heavily touristed areas are pretty nice. Also, a fair amount of travel involved, but many of the trips are pretty short, like Erfurt to Weimar, or Nurnberg to Bamberg, or Munich to Landshut or Tegernsee, or for that matter GP to Linderhof. Would like to hear from people's thoughts about it. One of the most travel intensive days, Salzburg to GP I'm actually looking forward too, as a nice way to see some alpine scenery.

I think you have a very nice pace on your trip. I know folks bad mouth Hallstadt due to the crowds but it is pretty darn special.

A good itinerary.... for myself I might overnight in Innsbruck cause I like the area so much.

Maybe add Lenbachhaus Museum in Munich which is quite different in style from most ofMunich’s offerings.

You are missing coffee with me in Frankfurt though. Just sayin'.

@edtravels, yeah Hallstatt is pretty amazing, but we are looking for a balanced trip with keeping our daytrips pretty manageable, and I'm thinking of Hallstatt for another time.
@Nick, definitely like less visited museums, not sure how much art oriented museums we will want to see. Thinking wife and I might both enjoy quirky museums and for myself more historical oriented ones.
@Ms Jo, in the back of my mind I'm already planning for another Germany trip, which would include places like Goslar, Marburg, Oldenburg (mothers side of the family), maybe stop off in Frankfurt, Heidelberg down to Freiburg.

Time for an update, which I'm sure everyone is eagerly waiting for. Pretty much seeing the same places, different order though.
First few days the same, leaving Prague Sept 1, bought the IC bus tickets to Nuremberg, getting there at 130.
The night of Sept 2nd we have reservations in Garmisch, just not sure when we will get in. We may spend the bulk of the day in Nurnberg, no rush to get to Garmisch as we will have five nights there. One nice thing about it is we will travel on the Bayern ticket that day, so no commitments, we'll just see what we want to do that day.
The days of Sept 3,4,5,6, we will be in the Garmisch area, but one day maybe an Innsbruck day trip. Morning of Sept 7 leave for Salzburg, probably via Munich and using a Bayern ticket. Spend the night of the 7th in Salzburg, leave for Munich sometime on the 8th, we will spend the heart of the day in Salzburg probably, traveling back to Munich on the Bayernnacht ticket on the 8th.
Sept 9 and 10 will be full days in Munich. Sept 11 travel in the morning on a ticket to Erfurt with a 6 hours stopover in Bamberg. So that should be a nice segment of time for Bamberg. Get to Erfurt in the evening.
Sept 12 spend time in Erfurt and Weimar. Sept 13, spend time in Erfurt, maybe a quick trip to Gotha. September 14 on to Berlin, with a full day stopover in Leipzig. Looking forward to seeing the Leipzig DDR museum and Waldstrasseviertel. Get to Berlin early evening.
Spend the last days of the trip in Berlin, probably visiting Potsdam as well.

Logistics and accommodations. Staying at a hotel in Dresden, probably also in Prague, and hotel in Nurnberg. 5 nights in Garmisch at a ferienwohnung, Salzburg and Munich hotel (Motel One Sendlinger Tor in Munich), ferienwohnung in Erfurt, and for Berlin my relative took care of accomodations.

Trains, have bought tickets already for all express trains, from Berlin to Dresden, Dresden to Prague, Prague to Nurnberg bus, Munich to Erfurt, Erfurt to Berlin. Got nice prices, though in each case I didn't buy the supersaver preis, got the saver price instead with city ticket and cancellation options. Pretty similar in price compared to the very high priced full fare options.

Trip has an interesting flow to it, in terms of nights in each place 1 Berlin, 2 Dresden,4 Prague,1 Nurnberg,5 Garmisch,1 Salzburg,3 Munich,3 Erfurt,4 Berlin. A little hectic at times but I think on the whole not too frantic, and offers us a good opportunity to see things without getting too overwhelmed.

Both are great but I'll put in a plug for Weimar, one of my top favourite small towns in Germany.

Not only will you see the houses and statues of Goethe and Schiller, there also is the Soviet military memorial and plus that of E. Thälmann, which surprised me when I first that in Weimar. You'll see that as you walk down from the train station to the Zentrum.

I've been there on day trips and one overnighter. To soak in Weimar, especially if your into German cultural history and literature, you need 4 days in Weimar.

Fred, yes looking forward to Weimar, didn't know about the Thalmann statue, but for both cultural and political reasons (the Weimar constitutional assembly of 1919) want to visit Weimar, and its so close to Erfurt, makes for a great day trip.
I think we will save the Bastei for another time, along with Gorlitz and Saxon towns like Bautzen, Meissen etc.

Hi,

The Thälmann memorial is not a statue of him but rather a wall memorial with "Thälmann" stretched across the wall. When Hitler ran for president in 1932, Thälmann was one of the 3 candidates opposing Hitler. Thälmann got ca 10 million votes, thus making a run-off necessary.

Be advised the Schwabing section of Munich has a number of nice antique shops which can add to the time spent and lighten the wallet.

Have a good trip. It sounds like you will.

@ rob...Of course, that famous Goethe and Schiller statue you'll see am Theater Platz in Weimar is also located in SF. All in all, a great trip.
