Munich Transport

I'm looking at going from the train station to our hotel near Viktualienmarkt September 8. Rome to Rio shows Tram 16 as a route that looks pretty straightforward with a stop very close to the hotel (Reichenbachplatz). But the MVV planner won't return that route. Now - if my google translate is correct there is construction affecting service in the other direction from the station until Sept 12. But I don't see where it effects service in the direction we want to go.

Just wonder if someone knows whats going on whether its a computer issue caused by adjusting for the construction that may be fixed in the future or if in fact service between the train station and Reichenbachplatz is disrupted at the time we'll be traveling.

S - Bahn to Marienplatz will also work but I find trams a little bit easier to navigate with roll-a-boards and the walk from Marienplatz is a somewhat longer and more convoluted than the tram

According to the MVV app the construction affects the trams in both directions. There is a substitute bus service but it's not faster than the other options given. SBahn to Marienplatz is your best option.

Thanks. Also I've since found another advisory which again given the limitations of google translate seems to be saying there is construction around Karlsplatz also. Looks like tram service stops at Sendlinger Tor until that's done.

It's really not a problem to take the SBahn to Marienplatz, exit the station and then walk from there. We've done this several times, and it's actually quite a pleasant walk.

Tram 16, as part of it's travel, runs between the Hbf and Isartor, with stops at Karlstor (Stachus), Sendlingertor, and Reichbachplatz. It's only the run from the Hbf to Sendlingertor that is affected. You can go on tram 16 to Reichenbachplatz from either Sendlingertor or Isartor.

If you don't want to walk from Marienplatz, you can take the S-Bahn to Isartor and get the 16 tram there, or you can take any of about 4 U-Bahn from the Hbf one stop to Sendlingertor and catch #16 there.

One more option if you really, really don't want to go up/down stairs in an S-Bahn station would be to take the #19 tram to Maxomonument and change to the #18 tram to Reichenbachplatz.

don't want to go up/down stairs in an S-Bahn station

All of the S-/U-Bahn stations I mentioned have escalators.
