We are new to European train travel and have an 8:15 a.m. train leaving Munich at 8:17 Tuesday morning. How early should we arrive at the station? We don't want to feel rushed and need to buy food for the trip. Thank you.
As you do not know the station I recommend 20 minutes ahead of departure.
Be aware that comprehensive construction work is done at and around Munich main station (renovation).

Provided you have seats reserved, ten minutes (not including time needed for buying food) is enough time to find your car and seats. Else you should be there when the train will be ready for boarding, that's approx. 20 minutes before departure. Look up the position of your car at the "Wagenreihungsplan" or - more convenient - in the DB App. Are you taking RJ 111 to Austria?
Don't worry about the construction work. Presently, they are taking down the main building, but inside the station almost everything is normal. Access is through the north and south entrances only.
RJ 111 is scheduled to depart from Gleis (Track) 11. Check this map showing location closest to the south entrance on the left side (Ausgang) and location of shops. "Lebensmittel" indicates grocery store (in purple).

Thank you for all three responses - very helpful! RJ 111 is our train! We are continuing on to Slovenia.
