munich: tours or evening activities

We are staying in Munich for one evening and one full day before starting our Alps tour. Are there suggestions for any tours that we should do? Museums? Shows?

Munich's Alte Pinathothek is arguably one of Germany's best art museums. And it's in a district with many other good museums. If you're not a fan of art, Germany's "Smithsonian" is in Munich, the engineering fans, and the Munich city museum is interesting and relatively compact. I'd check opening hours of the museums but plan to do one of your full day, and find an evening walking tour for your first evening.
